Do I miss this?

Am I missing Uni? The truth is, maybe, a bit. I'm not talking about missing the intense library sessions, or constant battles with understanding this theory or that theory in order to complete an assignment on time; it's more the social side. And I don't mean what most students call the 'social' side either which, more often that not, evolves into a heavy drinking session whereby you crawl into University the next morning still wearing last night's make-up, with unwashed hair, having forgotten all the books/worksheets/preparation which is essential to understanding what this particular seminar is about. I am talking more about a very special social environment; the environment where your passion for the subject you've chosen is really visible. I may just be talking for myself here, but I found that in reaching that point where you are fully engaged and eager to make your contribution known, your fellow students are the common denominator. Whether it be a seminar, or a sporadic meeting in a cafe, or a planned revision session in the library, it's a time to connect with a small number of very similar brains. To bounce off each other, learn something new, discuss, debate, discover; that small group of people will only ever be the ones that fully understand where your passion has come from, and where it lies. I loved being one of those brains, and I love how that small group has a special section of my life, detached from any other family member, friend or colleague. I miss my linguists!
